Hebrews 10:21
“and having a great priest over God’s house,”
What does Hebrews 10:21 mean?
This verse speaks of Jesus as our "great priest" who oversees God's household, the church. In the Jewish temple system, the high priest was the one person allowed to enter the innermost sacred space to represent the people before God, a role of immense responsibility and intimacy. By calling Jesus our great priest, the author is saying He holds that highest position of access and authority, but now on our behalf in a way that's permanent and perfect. It's an invitation to trust that we have someone in the truest seat of power who actually understands us and advocates for us.
