What does Haggai 1:8 mean?
God is calling his people to stop making excuses and start rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem, which had been neglected for years while they focused on their own homes and comfort. The invitation to "go up to the mountain" is a call to action, to do the hard, visible work of reconstruction despite obstacles or weariness. What's striking here is God's promise that this work matters to him, that he finds joy and honor in seeing his people obey and build something beautiful for him.
