Genesis 46:3
“He said, “I am God, the God of your father. Don’t be afraid to go down into Egypt, for there I will make of you a great nation.”
What does Genesis 46:3 mean?
God speaks these words to Jacob in a vision at night, just as Jacob is preparing to leave the land of his fathers to reunite with his son Joseph in Egypt. Jacob must have felt torn—he's elderly, his family is in danger of famine, and yet leaving Canaan means abandoning the promised land his grandfather Abraham received from God.
