What does Genesis 42:36 mean?
Jacob's words pour out the accumulated weight of his losses and fears. He's already grieving Joseph, whom he believes is dead, and now Simeon is imprisoned in Egypt because of the famine crisis. When his sons ask to take Benjamin (likely his youngest and the last living child of his beloved Rachel), Jacob sees only disaster piling upon disaster.
