Genesis 42:3
“Joseph’s ten brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt.”
What does Genesis 42:3 mean?
When famine struck the land where Jacob's family lived, they heard that grain was available in Egypt. Jacob sent his ten oldest sons to buy food and keep the family alive, though he held back Benjamin, the youngest, out of fear that something might happen to him. What these brothers didn't know was that the man in charge of Egypt's grain supply was Joseph, their own brother whom they had sold into slavery years before. This moment marks the beginning of their reunion, though Joseph recognizes them while they have no idea who he is.
