Genesis 41:15
“Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.””
What does Genesis 41:15 mean?
Pharaoh is bringing Joseph before him because he's desperate for answers. The king has had troubling dreams that none of his magicians or wise men can explain, and someone has mentioned that Joseph has a gift for understanding what dreams mean. What makes this moment significant is that Pharaoh is admitting his own powerlessness, which was rare for someone of his status, and he's turning to a foreign slave in hope of finding truth. Joseph is about to step into a position of tremendous influence, not through his own scheming, but because he possesses something the most powerful man in Egypt cannot get from anyone else.
