What does Genesis 40:6 mean?
Joseph notices his fellow prisoners are troubled, and he responds by actually paying attention to what he's observing. This is a small but telling moment: even as a slave and captive himself, Joseph has the emotional presence to recognize when others are hurting. Rather than being consumed only by his own circumstances, he cares enough to see their distress. It's the kind of noticing that often opens a door to deeper connection, and in this case, it leads Joseph to ask what's bothering them and eventually to interpret their dreams. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer someone who's struggling is simply the willingness to truly see them.
