Genesis 30:27
“Laban said to him, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, stay here, for I have divined that Yahweh has blessed me for your sake.””
What does Genesis 30:27 mean?
Laban is asking Jacob to stay and continue working for him, recognizing that Jacob's presence has brought him unexpected prosperity. Though Laban uses the language of divination (looking for signs about what the gods want), he's essentially admitting that Jacob's labor has been the real source of his wealth and success. It's a moment where even someone outside God's covenant people can see that blessing follows those who walk with the Lord. For anyone feeling invisible or undervalued in their work, this reminds us that faithfulness matters and that God's favor can be noticed even by those around us, even when they don't fully understand where it comes from.
