What does Genesis 29:28 mean?
Jacob agreed to serve another seven years for Rachel, and Laban held him to it. After completing that second week of service (which is what "fulfilled her week" means in this context), Jacob finally married Rachel, the woman he'd loved from the beginning. This moment captures something painfully human: sometimes the things we want most require us to wait through disappointment and extra hardship. Jacob had already been tricked into marrying Leah first, and now he had to work seven more years for Rachel. Yet he did it, because his love for her was worth the cost.
