“If the woman isn’t willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this oath to me. Only you shall not bring my son there again.””
What does Genesis 24:8 mean?
Abraham's servant is about to journey to find a wife for Isaac, and Abraham wants him to understand the limits of his responsibility. This verse clarifies that if the woman chooses not to come back with the servant, he's released from his obligation and hasn't failed. The one condition that remains absolute is this: under no circumstances should the servant take Isaac back to Abraham's homeland, since God had called Abraham's family away from there.
