“But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.”
What does Genesis 19:10 mean?
When the angry mob outside Lot's house threatened violence, the visitors (who were angels, though Lot didn't fully understand this yet) physically pulled him to safety and sealed the door behind him. It's a small moment of rescue in a terrifying situation. The gesture shows protection and the drawing of a clear boundary between Lot and the danger closing in around him. Sometimes safety means being forcibly removed from harm by someone stronger than ourselves, even when we're frozen in fear or uncertainty about what's happening.
