Genesis 13:9
“Isn’t the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.””
What does Genesis 13:9 mean?
Abram is speaking to his nephew Lot after their herds have grown so large that the land can't support them both. Rather than fight over the best grazing land, Abram does something generous and countercultural for that time: he gives Lot first choice. This says something beautiful about Abram's character and his trust in God's provision.
