What does Genesis 13:6 mean?

Abram and his nephew Lot had accumulated so much livestock, servants, and possessions that the land around them simply couldn't sustain both of their groups. When resources become scarce, even family relationships can strain under the pressure, and that's exactly what was beginning to happen. Rather than let conflict grow between their households, they made the mature choice to separate and find different areas to settle, each with enough grazing land and water for their flocks. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do for our relationships is to recognize our limits and create space when things get too crowded.
