What does Genesis 12:16 mean?
When Pharaoh took Sarai into his household, thinking she was Abram's sister rather than his wife, God protected her from harm. In return for what Pharaoh believed was a beneficial arrangement, he showered Abram with wealth, livestock, and servants. This passage shows God working behind the scenes to preserve Sarai's safety while Abram received material blessing as a consequence, though the couple had obtained these riches through deception.
