What does Genesis 1:3 mean?

On the first day of creation, God speaks light into existence with a simple command. This moment shows us that God's word has power, that reality responds to what He says. The repetition you see throughout Genesis (God speaks, and it happens) establishes a pattern: God creates through speaking, and His words always accomplish what He intends. For many people, this verse also carries a deeper meaning. After darkness comes light, and the light is described as good. In Scripture, light often symbolizes truth, clarity, and God's presence itself, which brings comfort to anyone walking through confusing or dark seasons.
