What does Genesis 1:2 mean?
Before creation took its shape, there was only chaos, void, and darkness. Yet even in that emptiness, God's Spirit was already present and active, moving over the waters like a parent hovering protectively over something precious. This moment captures something beautiful: God doesn't create by standing apart, but by being intimately involved, bringing order and life out of formlessness. It tells us that God's presence and care precede everything else, even existence itself, which can be deeply comforting when our own lives or world feel disordered or uncertain.
