Galatians 2:6
“But from those who were reputed to be important (whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God doesn’t show partiality to man)—they, I say, who were respected imparted nothing to me,”
What does Galatians 2:6 mean?
Paul is reminding the Galatians that even the most prominent church leaders in Jerusalem didn't add anything essential to his message about Jesus. He's asserting his independence and authority, not because he's arrogant, but because his understanding came directly from God, who judges people by their hearts rather than their status or credentials. What matters isn't who you know or how impressive your background is—it's whether you're genuinely following Jesus. This would have been encouraging to a young church that might have felt intimidated by the "big names" or worried they were somehow second-class believers if they hadn't studied under the apostles in person.
