What does Galatians 2:5 mean?
Paul is describing a moment when he stood firm against pressure to compromise the core message of grace. False teachers were trying to impose old religious rules on new believers, and Paul refused to yield to them, even temporarily. He knew that giving ground "for an hour" would undermine the freedom that Jesus had won for all people. This speaks to something many of us face: the temptation to appease others by bending on things that matter deeply to us. Paul's conviction here is that some truths are worth protecting precisely because they affect how people experience God's love. When you stand by what you believe is right, even when it's uncomfortable, you're protecting something precious for others.
