Galatians 1:7

What does Galatians 1:7 mean?
Paul is writing to churches that have received a distorted version of the gospel message. Some people had come along insisting that following Jesus required additional rules and practices beyond faith in Christ, and Paul wants his readers to know this is a corruption of the real message, not an acceptable alternative. The warmth here comes from Paul's concern: he's not splitting hairs about theology for its own sake, but protecting people from being burdened with burdens that don't belong to them. When we're trying to follow God, it's easy to get caught up in what others tell us we "must do" or "must believe," and this verse reminds us that the core message of grace in Christ doesn't need improvement or addition. If something being taught pulls you away from the simplicity of trusting in Jesus and his love, that's worth questioning.
