What does Galatians 1:6 mean?
Paul is genuinely shocked and hurt. The Galatians had recently turned to Jesus through his ministry, and now they're abandoning that faith for a different message, one that sounds good on the surface but contradicts what they learned. He's expressing real disappointment, the kind you feel when someone you care about gets caught up in something false. The underlying issue is that some people were telling the Galatians they needed to follow Jewish laws and traditions to truly belong to God's family. Paul sees this as a betrayal of the gospel itself, because it suggests Jesus's grace isn't enough. His opening words are urgent precisely because he loves them: he wants to shake them awake before they lose sight of what they've been set free to experience in Christ.
