Ezekiel 5:13
““‘Thus my anger will be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I will be comforted. They will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath on them.”
What does Ezekiel 5:13 mean?
God is describing how His judgment will eventually bring Him a kind of rest, like when a storm finally passes and the air clears. When He disciplines His people for turning away from Him, it's not because He enjoys their suffering, but because His heart burns for their restoration, and sometimes that requires consequences they can actually feel and learn from. Once that difficult season ends and they finally understand why it happened, they'll recognize that His words were always true and spoken with the intensity of someone who loves them enough to let them face the results of their choices. The point isn't cruelty, but accountability and the deep satisfaction that comes when people finally turn back toward the One who made them.
