What does Ezekiel 44:23 mean?

The priests in Ezekiel's vision are being called to do something deeply practical: help God's people recognize what matters spiritually. The instruction isn't about making arbitrary rules, but about teaching people to see the real difference between what draws them closer to God and what pulls them away. It's similar to how a good teacher helps students distinguish between reliable sources and misleading ones, except here the stakes involve the whole direction of a person's life. When we understand this difference for ourselves, we start making choices that actually reflect what we say we believe.
