What does Ezekiel 4:13 mean?
God is describing how the people of Israel will be forced into exile among foreign nations, where they'll be unable to follow the Jewish laws about clean and unclean food. This wasn't meant as punishment alone, but as a consequence of their unfaithfulness—exile would separate them from their homeland and the religious practices that defined their identity. The image is painful: scattered among strangers, they'd lose the ability to live according to God's instructions, which deepened their sense of loss and alienation. Yet even in this harsh reality, God's presence and purposes weren't abandoned, and many faithful people kept their connection to him even in those difficult circumstances.
