Ezekiel 39:7
““‘“I will make my holy name known among my people Israel. I won’t allow my holy name to be profaned any more. Then the nations will know that I am Yahweh, the Holy One in Israel.”
What does Ezekiel 39:7 mean?
God is making a promise that feels deeply personal and also wonderfully universal at once. When He says He'll make His holy name known among Israel, He's responding to generations of His people suffering under foreign powers who mocked both them and their God, treating His name as something meaningless or powerless. God is saying that will stop, that His character and reality will become undeniably clear through what He does. The beautiful part is that this recognition spreads outward. When the surrounding nations witness God's faithfulness to Israel, they won't be able to dismiss Him anymore, either. They'll see that He's genuinely holy, genuinely different from the empty gods they trusted in. God's reputation matters to Him, but not in a prideful way, rather because His holy name is inseparable from who He actually is and what His love actually accomplishes in the world.
