Ezekiel 33:20
“Yet you say, “The way of the Lord is not fair.” House of Israel, I will judge every one of you after his ways.’””
What does Ezekiel 33:20 mean?
The people of Israel were complaining that God's judgment wasn't just, even as they refused to turn from their own wrongdoing. God responds by saying he will actually judge each person fairly according to their individual choices and actions, not by some blanket standard. This is meant as both a comfort and a warning: if you're walking away from God, that's what you'll answer for, but if you're turning back to him, that matters too. It's a reminder that God sees us personally and holds us responsible for our own path, not for someone else's mistakes or God's broader plans that we don't understand.
