What does Ezekiel 30:7 mean?

Egypt's destruction will be so complete that it won't stand out as uniquely tragic, but will simply blend in with all the other ruined lands around it. The prophet is describing how thoroughly the nation will be humbled, stripped of its former glory and power that once made it the center of the ancient world. This message came during a time when Egypt was still a formidable force, so hearing that it would become unremarkable among destroyed nations must have been shocking to those who heard it. For us today, there's something sobering in the reminder that no earthly power or prominence is permanent, no matter how dominant it seems. What matters instead is where we place our trust and whom we serve.
