Ezekiel 22:3
“You shall say, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “A city that sheds blood within herself, that her time may come, and that makes idols against herself to defile her!”
What does Ezekiel 22:3 mean?
God is confronting Jerusalem through the prophet Ezekiel, calling out the city's violence and spiritual corruption. The "blood shed" refers to the actual injustices, murders, and exploitation happening in the streets, while the "idols" represent both literal false worship and the broken values the people have embraced instead of following God's ways. By saying her "time may come," God is indicating that these choices have consequences, and judgment is approaching. This passage echoes a painful reality: communities that turn away from justice and toward false gods ultimately destroy themselves from the inside out.
