What does Ezekiel 22:2 mean?

God is calling Ezekiel to confront Jerusalem directly about the violence and injustice happening within her walls. The "bloody city" refers to how the wealthy and powerful were exploiting the poor, shedding innocent blood through oppression and cruelty. Rather than turning away from these hard realities, Ezekiel is being asked to hold up a mirror so the people can see the full weight of what they've become. This hits differently when we're in denial about harm around us. God isn't asking Ezekiel to condemn from a distance, but to speak truth clearly enough that people actually grasp the gap between who they claim to be and what they're doing. Sometimes naming what's really happening, without sugar-coating it, is the only path back to change.
