What does Ezekiel 22:20 mean?
God is using the image of a metalworker's furnace to describe how he will purify Jerusalem through judgment. Just as a smelter heats metal to burn away impurities and separate what's valuable from what's worthless, God says he will gather the people of Judah in his anger to refine them through the intense heat of exile and suffering. The message isn't primarily about destruction for its own sake, but about a painful process meant to remove corruption and restore what matters.
