Ezekiel 13:9
““My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who utter lying divinations. They will not be in the council of my people, neither will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh””
What does Ezekiel 13:9 mean?
God is drawing a clear line here between the prophets who spoke his true word and those who made things up for their own gain or comfort. In Ezekiel's time, false prophets were telling people what they wanted to hear—that everything would be fine—when God was actually calling them to repentance during a dark season. The consequences God names are about being cut off from belonging: excluded from God's people, erased from the record, and unable to enter the promised land. It's a sobering reminder that there are real differences between truth and deception, and that speaking falsely in God's name carries weight. The deeper point isn't meant to terrify but to clarify: God cares about truth because he cares about his people. False comfort keeps people from turning back to him when they need to most.
