What does Ezekiel 13:12 mean?
God is confronting the false prophets of Ezekiel's time who were offering reassurance with empty words, like cheap plaster slapped over a crumbling wall. When disaster inevitably comes (the wall collapses), everyone will see that their prophecies were worthless, and they'll be exposed as charlatans with nothing real to show for their claims. The image captures something we all recognize: a false promise feels comforting right up until reality hits, and then the person who made it has nowhere to hide. This speaks to the danger of seeking easy comfort instead of truth, whether from others or in our own lives.
