Ezekiel 11:7
““‘Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Your slain whom you have laid in the middle of it, they are the meat, and this is the cauldron; but you will be brought out of the middle of it.”
What does Ezekiel 11:7 mean?
Ezekiel is speaking to the people of Jerusalem during a time of siege and violence. The city has become like a cooking pot filled with death, and the people inside believe their walls will protect them like a cauldron protects meat during cooking. But God is saying something shocking: you won't stay safely inside. You will be forced out of this city you thought would shelter you. This is a hard word, but it carries a hidden mercy. Yes, judgment is coming. Yes, there will be consequences for the injustice and idolatry God has been warning about. But being removed from the city, though it will feel like exile and loss, actually means being taken out of the worst of the destruction. God is saying they won't perish in the siege itself, even though that must have seemed impossible to imagine at the time. If you're in a season where you feel trapped or when circumstances are pressing in on you, this verse reminds us that God sees what's happening and hasn't forgotten his people, even when his answer looks different than we hoped.
