Ezekiel 11:12

You will know that I am Yahweh, for you have not walked in my statutes, You have not executed my ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are around you.”’”

What does Ezekiel 11:12 mean?

God is telling the Israelites that their own choices will teach them who he really is. They've rejected his ways and instead copied the practices of the surrounding nations, and that decision will have consequences that prove his reality to them. This isn't a threat meant to harm but rather a hard truth: when we ignore God's guidance and follow the world's pattern instead, we experience the natural results of those choices. The exile that Ezekiel was prophesying would drive home this lesson in a way the people couldn't ignore, helping them finally recognize both God's existence and the cost of turning away from him.
