Ezekiel 1:3

What does Ezekiel 1:3 mean?
Ezekiel was a priest living far from home, exiled in Babylon during one of Israel's darkest periods. God reached him there anyway, speaking to him with unmistakable clarity and power (that phrase about God's hand being on him suggests an overwhelming sense of God's presence and calling). The point isn't that Ezekiel had to be in the right place or circumstances to hear from God, but that God's word finds us even in exile, displacement, and confusion.
