What does Exodus 8:25 mean?
After plagues of frogs and flies, Pharaoh finally seems ready to negotiate, inviting Moses and Aaron to worship right there in Egypt rather than leaving to find a distant place to pray. His offer sounds like compromise, but it's actually a trap, because worshipping the God of Israel in the land of Egypt would mean doing it under Pharaoh's watchful eye and on his terms. Moses will refuse this half-measure, recognizing that authentic worship requires freedom and separation from compromise. Sometimes what looks like permission or accommodation is really just another way of trying to control us, and the hard choice is to hold out for the real thing.
