“The frogs shall depart from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people. They shall remain in the river only.””
What does Exodus 8:11 mean?
Pharaoh had just promised Moses that if God would remove the frogs plaguing Egypt, he would let the Israelites go. This verse records God's answer, delivered through Moses: the frogs will vanish from people, homes, and animals, retreating only to the river where they belong. What makes this moment tender is how it shows God's willingness to respond even to a request made in desperation and half-heartedness. Pharaoh didn't truly repent, yet God still granted relief from the suffering. It reminds us that God sometimes answers our cries not because we've earned it, but because He sees our pain.
