What does Exodus 7:12 mean?

When Pharaoh's magicians threw down their staffs and they became serpents, it looked like they matched Aaron's miracle. But Aaron's staff-turned-serpent consumed theirs, showing that God's power operates on a completely different level than human tricks or spiritual counterfeits. This moment came early in the confrontation between Moses and Pharaoh, and it foreshadowed how every plague would unfold: Pharaoh's advisors would seem to replicate the sign, but God's work would ultimately prove superior and unstoppable. The image of one serpent swallowing others is a reminder that genuine divine power doesn't just equal other forces, it supersedes them.
