Exodus 6:1
“Yahweh said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh, for by a strong hand he shall let them go, and by a strong hand he shall drive them out of his land.””
What does Exodus 6:1 mean?
God is promising Moses that what seems impossible right now is about to become reality. After generations of slavery and broken promises that have worn down the people's hope, God is saying he's about to act with undeniable power. The repetition of "strong hand" emphasizes that this liberation won't come through negotiation or gradual compromise, but through God's direct intervention that Pharaoh won't be able to resist or ignore. This message comes at a moment when Moses is discouraged, having just tried to negotiate with Pharaoh and things got worse instead of better. God's words here are meant to steady him: what you're about to witness will be so clearly God's work that no one can deny it. Sometimes we need this kind of reassurance too, especially when our efforts seem to be backfiring and we wonder if anything will really change.
