Exodus 4:19
“Yahweh said to Moses in Midian, “Go, return into Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead.””
What does Exodus 4:19 mean?
After Moses fled Egypt as a fugitive, he spent years in hiding in Midian, tending sheep and building a family. God's reassurance here was deeply personal, addressing the very thing keeping Moses paralyzed with fear: the authorities who once hunted him were no longer a threat. It's God saying, "The danger that forced you into exile has passed. It's safe enough now to go back." This doesn't mean Moses' return to Egypt would be easy or without risk, but it removes one concrete barrier to obedience. Sometimes we need to hear that specific fear addressed before we can take the next step forward, and that's exactly what God offers here.
