Exodus 36:12
“He made fifty loops in the one curtain, and he made fifty loops in the edge of the curtain that was in the second coupling. The loops were opposite to one another.”
What does Exodus 36:12 mean?
This verse describes the painstaking work of building the tabernacle, God's portable tent of worship in the wilderness. The craftsmen were creating loops along the edges of large fabric curtains so they could be fastened together with clasps, much like connecting panels to form a unified structure. The detail that the loops were "opposite to one another" shows the precision required, the loops on one curtain had to align perfectly with the loops on the adjacent one. What might seem like tedious technical work was actually part of something sacred, and the meticulous care taken reflects how the ancient Israelites understood God as worthy of their finest craftsmanship and attention to detail.
