Exodus 34:11
“Observe that which I command you today. Behold, I drive out before you the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.”
What does Exodus 34:11 mean?
God is reminding Moses (and Israel) that their part in receiving the promised land isn't passive—they need to actively obey his instructions. He's not asking them to conquer through their own strength alone; he's doing the heavy lifting, driving out the nations already occupying Canaan. But there's an "if" underneath: obedience matters, and it positions them to receive what God has already committed to giving them. This applies to us too, in different ways: sometimes what God wants to do in our lives requires both his action and our willingness to follow his direction, even when we can't see the whole path ahead.
