Exodus 26:33
“You shall hang up the veil under the clasps, and shall bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil: and the veil shall separate the holy place from the most holy for you.”
What does Exodus 26:33 mean?
This instruction describes the veil that divided the ancient Tabernacle into two sections. The outer area (the holy place) was where priests performed daily duties, while the inner area (the most holy place, or holy of holies) held the ark containing God's covenant promises and was entered only once yearly by the high priest on the Day of Atonement. The veil itself was more than just a curtain, it was a physical representation of the separation between God's holiness and human sinfulness. It communicated something profound: approach to God's presence required reverence, preparation, and obedience to His instructions.
