What does Exodus 25:1 mean?

God is beginning to give Moses detailed instructions about building the tabernacle, the portable tent where God's presence will dwell among the Israelites. This simple opening phrase appears many times throughout Exodus and reminds us that what follows isn't Moses's own idea, but God's direct communication with him. It sets the tone for a relationship of listening and obedience that shaped everything Israel would do in the wilderness. Even though the verse itself seems brief, it's an invitation to pay attention to something God considers worth saying clearly.
