Exodus 19:24
“Yahweh said to him, “Go down! You shall bring Aaron up with you, but don’t let the priests and the people break through to come up to Yahweh, lest he break out against them.””
What does Exodus 19:24 mean?
God is setting firm boundaries to protect the people from something they're not ready to encounter. Just before this, Moses had gone up Mount Sinai to receive God's instructions, and now God is telling him to come back down and bring Aaron (the high priest) with him, while making absolutely sure the rest of the priests and people stay at a distance. The intensity here reflects how overwhelming God's presence was considered to be, not out of cruelty but out of genuine care. It's a bit like a parent keeping children away from a dangerous fire, not to be mean, but because they could be seriously harmed if they got too close.
