What does Exodus 19:22 mean?
When God was about to give the law at Mount Sinai, He set boundaries around the sacred space because His holiness is overwhelming and dangerous to approach carelessly. The priests had a unique role as mediators between God and the people, which meant they needed to prepare themselves spiritually and physically (through ritual washing and other practices) before drawing near to Him.
