What does Esther 4:12 mean?
When Esther's maids and eunuchs delivered her message to her cousin Mordecai, they were passing along her response to his urgent plea for her to approach the king. Mordecai had been mourning outside the palace gates because the king's adviser Haman had issued an edict to destroy all the Jewish people, and he knew that only Queen Esther, whose Jewish identity was hidden, had any power to intervene.
