Ephesians 5:9
“for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,”
What does Ephesians 5:9 mean?
The Spirit's work in us naturally produces something visible and good: genuine kindness toward others, living with integrity, and honesty in how we speak and act. Paul is saying that when God's Spirit is active in your life, these qualities aren't forced or performance—they grow from the inside out, like fruit naturally appearing on a healthy tree. If you're struggling to be patient, truthful, or kind, this verse invites you to ask God's Spirit to work in you rather than relying only on your own willpower. The goodness, righteousness, and truth that come from God have a different quality than trying to appear good on your own.
