Ephesians 2:9
βnot of works, that no one would boast.β
What does Ephesians 2:9 mean?
Salvation isn't something we earn through our efforts or goodness, so there's no room for any of us to take credit or feel superior to others. Paul is reminding us that if we could work our way into God's favor, some people would naturally feel proud of their accomplishments while others might feel ashamed or left behind. Instead, grace levels that playing field: it's a free gift we all receive the same way, which actually protects us from the pride that destroys relationships and communities.
