Ecclesiastes 7:1
“A good name is better than fine perfume; and the day of death better than the day of one’s birth.”
What does Ecclesiastes 7:1 mean?
Your reputation and character matter more than any outward luxury or pleasant thing you can acquire. A life well-lived, where people know you as honest and kind, is worth far more than expensive things. The second part might sound grim at first, but it reflects something profound: our death day can be better than our birth day because it's when our whole life becomes complete and its true value is revealed. We can only fully understand what a person's life meant when we see how they lived it all the way through. In that sense, how you finish matters deeply, and a life that ends with integrity and love is better than starting with all the potential in the world but never following through.
