Ecclesiastes 1:10

What does Ecclesiastes 1:10 mean?
The writer of Ecclesiastes is reflecting on something we all feel: the sense that we're experiencing something totally new when really, in some form, it's happened before. Whatever seems fresh or unprecedented to us has roots stretching back through history and human experience. This doesn't mean nothing matters or that we're trapped in pointless repetition, but rather that our struggles, joys, and discoveries connect us to countless people who came before. There's something oddly comforting in that, especially when you're going through something difficult and feel entirely alone—chances are good that someone has walked a similar path and found their way through.
